Who`s going to play in the Ekstraklasa? Playoffs cancelled

This is still not known which teams are going to play in the Ekstraklasa next season. Commission on Urgent Matters of the Polish Football Association (PZPN) cancelled playoffs between Cracovia Cracow and Korona Kielce which are connected with the promotion to the Ekstraklasa. The main reason of the cancellation was the decision of the Polish Supreme Court which reversed the decision concerning the withdrawal of Widzew Łódź's relegation on Wednesday. It required to rehear the case by the Commission of Arbitration of the Polish Olympic Committee.

The situation of ŁKS is also unclear. It didn't receive a special licence which is obligatory if the team wants to play in the Ekstraklasa. It means that the club was automatically moved to the last position in the league table. Nevertheless, the club from Łódź appealed against the decision to the Administrative Court which required the Polish Football Association to deliver the complete documentation connected with the case.

After the season 2008/2009 there were two clubs on the last two places, mainly: Cracovia Cracow and Górnik Zabrze. Arka Gdynia was the fourteenth and it should have played against Korona Kielce in playoffs. The direct promotion to the Ekstraklasa was won by Widzew Łódź and Zagłębie Lubin.
